%3Cb%20class%3D%22title%22%3EPomology%20Team%3C%2Fb%3E%3Cbr%2F%3EThe%20constantly%20changing%20requirements%20of%20the%20market%20require%20constant%20adjustment%20of%20the%20range%20of%20apples%20in%20order%20to%20remain%20competitive.%20For%20this%20reason%2C%20the%20Pomology%20Working%20Group%20tests%20interesting%20new%20varieties%20from%20all%20over%20the%20world%20for%20suitability%20for%20the%20South%20Tyrolean%20growing%20area.%20In%20its%20own%20apple%20breeding%20programme%2C%20adapted%20varieties%20are%20developed%20whose%20fruit%20characteristics%20meet%20the%20requirements%20of%20consumers.%20Ultimately%2C%20the%20working%20group%20is%20concerned%20with%20the%20conservation%20and%20pre-propagation%20of%20apple%20varieties%20in%20order%20to%20make%20controlled%20planting%20material%20available%20to%20tree%20nurseries%20and%20eventually%20fruit%20farmers.

%3Cb%20class%3D%22title%22%3EOld%20apple%20varieties%3C%2Fb%3E%3Cbr%2F%3EIn%202020%20Laimburg%20Research%20Centre%20and%20the%20%E2%80%9CGruppo%20Locande%20Sudtirolesi%E2%80%9D%20group%20of%20South%20Tyrolean%20inns%20brought%20to%20life%20a%20joint%20initiative%20that%20aimed%20to%20resurrect%20typical%20old%20apple%20varieties.%20The%20inns%20created%20a%20range%20of%20apple%20dishes%20from%20the%20old%20varieties.%20In%20the%20process%2C%20they%20explored%20which%20old%20apple%20variety%20was%20especially%20well%20suited%20to%20which%20dish%20and%20the%20extent%20to%20which%20they%20were%20accepted%20by%20consumers.
