The Multilingual Centre is a public cultural institution dedicated to the teaching and autonomous learning of languages, especially German as a second language, and knowledge of other cultures. The Centre has a modern library equipped with hard copy and multi-media resources, for all ages and levels of linguistic knowledge. Alongside the traditional resources, the integrated use of the new technologies, makes it a point of reference for a vast and heterogeneous public. The vocation of the multi-cultural centre is evident in terms of its acceptance among the city's foreign communities, as a stimulating meeting point, where information is available to help maintain linguistic knowledge and learn the official languages of the Province.
The profile of the self-access centre, which the Multilingual Centre has built in recent years, meets with the objectives identified in recent linguistic policies (life-long learning) and has resulted in the centre being presented at a local level as Bolzano's Language Library of "par excellence".
